Three Colorful Musketeers

During the team Watch-Anish trip to Geneva we met with a lot of different watch brands. However, I think the brand we came back to most times was Linde Werdelin and their suite at the Four Seasons Hotel. It wasn’t because they served the best coffee or had the most expensive champagne ready to tickle our throats. No, it was solely because of their watches (and of course the nice people behind them…and the champagne).

They had brought with them the new Oktopus II Moon as well as the new family in the SpidoLite II series. In this article we will focus on the new SpidoLite II’s; the Titanium Blue, the Titanium Red and the Black Gold.

 

In November 2012, Linde Werdelin announced that they would release a new family of SpidoLite II’s and began by unveiling the Titanium Blue, a watch that incorporated a titanium case, a galvanic blue dial and subtle, orange details. Hands and screws have also been blued to match the rest of the watch (as well as for the fact that it reduces the risk of corrosion). The colors really make the watch stand out from the crowd and definitely brings a new dimension to the SpidoLite series. It’s hard to put words on it, but it’s almost like the colors help give the SpidoLite II a somewhat dressy look. The sportiness is of course still there, much thanks to the signature Linde Werdelin skeleton case, the skeletonized dial and a clear caseback.

 

 

The second watch to be unveiled was the Titanium Red and in this version they presented a red dial with black DLC details. The case is still in titanium.

 

 

The third and final version of the SpidoLite II was the Black Gold, a stealthy-looking piece which has seen a full DLC treatment to the case and has a rose gold crown with matching rose gold details on the dial.

 

 

All three watches are powered by the LW 04; caliber 2251, a movement made specifically for Linde Werdelin by independent movement manufacturer Concepto. The movement is then color-matched with the specific model; for example the Linde Werdelin print on the rotor on the Titanium Blue is, of course, blue. The movement is visible both through the clear caseback as well as the skeletonized dial.

• See-through sapphire crystal on the backcase, Spido icon and sub-dial engravings.

• Three diamond-cut steel hands.

• LW 04 custom-made mechanical automatic movement by Concepto.
• Power reserve of 42 hours. Balance frequency of 28800vph or 4Hz. 
• Skeletonized oscillator with ceramic bearings for increased strength and a strengthened escapement.

Water Resistance: 

• 100m

Strap:

• SpidoLite textured calfskin strap with matching stitching and ardillon buckle, interchangeable within Linde Werdelin’s proprietary strap system.
